Concept & Research
Being able to empower kids is critical for how they grow up and learn to interact with the people around them. As a group we wanted to demonstrate the importance of our own differences and the differences of others, and how to respect those differences.
E is for Expression
In this spread the goal was to show that you should always feel free to express yourself. Self expression is important not only so others can see who you are, but even more because by expressing yourself you develop confidence can show the world who you are! I originally wanted all my characters to be themed around birds, but then changed my idea to be more abstract characters. The entire spread was created in Photoshop and I made the text in InDesign. In the interaction you tap the screen to make the character whistle.
F is for Friendship
The goal of this spread is to represent the fact that it doesn’t matter who your friends are, but more the fact that you are friends with them because of who they are and how they treat you. The interaction is only a slight parallax, but originally I wanted to pan out to show the characters - one being a person and one a monster.
R is for Race
For this spread the goal was to show that even with people being different colors, we are all the same on the inside. In the interaction you slide the x-ray machine to fully reveal the x-rays of the people.
Recap
I Learned that when working in a big group communication is key, and making sure you come to all the meetings helps not just you, but the group as a whole. It was especially important for coordinating elements such as page size, file type, and master files.
